Warehouse & Dispatch Operative

As a Warehouse & Dispatch Operative, you will provide operational assistance to the Warehouse & Fulfilment Manager to ensure the warehouse is effectively managed in line with company procedures.

Working with colleagues you will take full responsibility for all aspects relating to order fulfilment operating an effective picking, packing and dispatch process. Maintaining the safe and accurate handling of stock.

Hours of work will initially be 9am to 4.30pm but may change to slightly different hours after 12 weeks. We also have 8am to 3.30pm available for a maternity cover for 12 months.

Dispatch Duties:

  • Order processing using online Dispatch Management Systems
  • Efficiently and effectively pack all Customer Orders using the most appropriate packaging and delivery service
  • Ensuring all consignments are addressed correctly and dispatched within the agreed time scales
  • Interface with other departments to avoid, rectify and overcome problems

Warehouse Duties:

  • Accepting delivery of goods
  • Accurately check all incoming stock for shortages and damage
  • Ensure all items received are checked-in, signed for and stock is updated via stock control systems to show accurate stock numbers and allocation
  • Ensure all stock is handled in a way as to minimise the risk of damage
  • Organise, relocate and move stock either by hand or using machinery
  • Ensuring all stock is located in the correct bin location and records kept up to date
  • Assist in the undertaking and completion of Stock Takes
  • Pick & Pack

Other Duties:

  • Bench Work
  • Maintain a clean and tidy Warehouse
  • Maintaining high levels of Health and Safety standards
  • Perform any reasonable ad hoc request from management chain

You will:

  • Have previous experience working in a warehouse environment (this is desirable but not essential)
  • Be able to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Have previous experience of Stock Control Software (this is desirable but not essential)
  • Have great attention to detail and good accuracy
  • Possesses a good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have a meticulous and efficient work ethic
  • Be conscientious, reliable, with good attendance and timekeeping standards
  • Be honest, trustworthy, able to work unsupervised
  • Be a positive team player
  • Demonstrate initiative and contribute ideas
  • Be pragmatic in your approach to problem-solving without cutting corners
  • Be flexible, adaptable and willing to learn
  • Have a good understanding of, and commitment to, safe working practices
